Staff and student collaboration leads to Science Industry Night successMore than 300 students attended the Science Industry Night held on the Clayton campus in August. Hosted by the Faculty of Science, in collaboration with Employment and Career Development and student representatives from Monash Science Society, Monash University Biological Society and Mass Cubed, the event gave students an insight into graduate and "earn while you learn" opportunities in the science industry. The keynote presentation “Career Pathways for Science Graduates” was delivered by Monash Alumnus and 2007 Australian of the Year, Professor Tim Flannery. Employment and Career Developments deputy director, Judi Green said “The evening was valuable for all. Science students were able to learn more about the employment opportunities. Employers were able to meet proactive students planning a career in science.” The success of the night, which was six months in its planning, is a great example of what can be achieved when staff and students combine their skills, experiences and networks. |
